Print the housing
The parts on our own feeder, as source and as printable files. Free, because a product that needs you to buy its box reaches the people who can afford the box.
What these are
A branch that is not a branch, and a box that keeps water out
The tree kit is a false branch holding the thermal camera, a tilt hinge strong enough to stay where you point it, and a holder that straps the phone to the trunk below. The branch exists because a camera that looks like a camera invites attention; one that looks like a stub of wood does not.
The sealed housing is the alternative for wet places: a clamshell with an O‑ring round the lens barrel, a pocket for desiccant, a tongue-and-groove joint with a drain channel that slopes forward, and a visor with a drip groove. The cable leaves downward through a spout.
Measure before you print. Every dimension is a default taken from one Thermal Master T2 Max and one Oukitel WP61. The source says so in capitals at the top, and it is parametric for exactly this reason — change the numbers, not the geometry.
Files
Source first, prints second
The fork that screws to the trunk. 56 × 96 × 34 mm.
Groove, drain and hinge tab. 95 × 54 × 39 mm.
Tongue and visor. 74 × 54 × 24 mm.
The OpenSCAD source is the real thing: open it, type your own measurements, press F6, export. The STLs are what our own prototypes are printed from, so they fit our camera and our phone and may not fit yours.
| File | What it is | |
|---|---|---|
| strixeo-tree-kit.scad | False branch, tilt hinge, tree base and phone holder. Set
part and export each separately. | 13 kB |
| strixeo-sealed-housing.scad | The sealed clamshell, both halves. | 9 kB |
| tree_tree_base.stl | The fork that screws to the trunk. 56 × 96 × 34 mm. | 298 kB |
| sealed_housing_bottom.stl | Lower half, with the groove and the drain. 95 × 54 × 39 mm. | 430 kB |
| sealed_housing_top.stl | Upper half, with the tongue and the visor. 74 × 54 × 24 mm. | 521 kB |
The branch halves and the phone holder are in the source but not exported here — they are the parts most likely to need your own measurements anyway.
Before you start
What else you need
PETG or CPE, six walls on the hinge parts — practically solid. PLA will not survive a summer outdoors; it softens in a sunlit black housing and creeps under load.
1× M6 × 30 bolt, M6 nut captured in the fork, and a washer. 4× wood screws, 4–4.5 mm, into the trunk.
4× M3 × 30 bolts and nuts, placed outside the seal line so the clamping is even. One 26 × 2 mm O‑ring round the lens barrel, and desiccant for the pocket. Seal the spout around your own cable.
Take them, change them, print them, sell the prints. If you improve the drainage we would genuinely like to hear about it.
